Protagonist

The protagonist in Playing The Float, is Marco Tirelli. He is the main character in the movie, the one whose incredible journey the story revolves around. In this case, Marco is the “good guy” that the audience follows and roots for as he faces the extraordinary challenges and obstacles brought on by the work comp carrier, National Sentry Insurance Company. Throughout the movie, Marco undergoes growth and change, as he confronts the overwhelming challenges by the carriers attorneys  making him a more developed character by the end. 

Marco is following his lifelong passion in photography. He is 6’-1”, dark brown hair and eyes and he’s average built. Living in NYC, Marco walks 5-7 miles a day to help keep fit. Marco is second generation Italian stemming from Gioia del Colle, Italy where is grandfather, Salvatore, left in the early 1900’s to come to America. Marco loves his Italian heritage and even speaks some Italian. Marco fell in love with photography at a very early age winning his first award at age 15 and was 16 when he was first published. Marco served in the Marines as a photographer but went to college to become a doctor… which didn’t work out too well and went back to his first love, photography. Marco always succeeds in every undertaking and so when he was injured doing some electrical work and the insurance company accused him of fraud, he wasn’t going to stand for that and fought back to clear his reputation.

Marco represents himself and single handedly fights a historic courtroom battle, to restore his name by going up against attorneys and an insurance carrier who will anything to protect the “Float”.  The twists and turns of Marco’s fight is a testament to his character and will keep you at the edge of your seat till the very end.
